Dear Faculty Colleagues,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greetings! Last week was full of meetings. See below for my reports about the Faculty Senate Leadership Team meeting with the Chancellor and his Leadership Cabinet, as well as the Academic Master Plan proposals review meeting, both of which took place on October 30th<\/sup>. The Board of Trustees met on November 2nd<\/sup>. Look for announcements about an opportunity to comment on a revised AR, professional development opportunities, and volunteer opportunities.  Six weeks to go. Halloween is behind us, Thanksgiving is on the horizon. The Vote is in, and the winner is\u2026 (To Be Continued\u2026.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Board of Trustees Meeting Notes [November 2nd<\/sup>]:<\/strong> The ACC Board of Trustees met on November 2nd<\/sup>. Agenda items included Association Reports, the Chancellor\u2019s report, a budget update from Neil Vickers, Dr. Cook, Dr. Buchanan, and Mr. Steve Christopher shared news about a TRIO Grant for Student Support Services, and Dr. Cook and DE Dean Mr. Erasmus Addae spoke about the DHSI Distant Education InFocus Grant the college has received. Full-Time Faculty Senate Leadership Team (FSLT) Meets with Chancellor and Leadership Cabinet [October 30]: <\/strong>Your FSLT met with the Chancellor and his cabinet to discuss several current issues, including processes and logistics to improve communications, an issue of some concern on the recent Climate Survey. Topics included creating a central volunteer sign up form based on the FTFS\u2019s Volunteer Form to address faculty concerns about the overflow of volunteer and service requests.  We also followed up on a carry-over item from last year\u2014the creation of a faculty portal that will include sections for non-Shared Governance committees and workgroups to share out their agendas, minutes, issues, and action items to better keep the ACC community aware of what groups are doing what. Also under the \u201ccommunication\u201d category, Brette Lea shared ideas for streamlining while improving all the news we get in all its different forms and modes. We also discussed current and future instructional technology issues, such as finalizing the Preferred Name Change utility for students and then getting the same functionality for faculty and staff. Neil Vickers reports the research has been completed on the faculty\/staff utility.  We also broached issues related to faculty autonomy and instructional technology decisions in the short and long term. We will continue to pursue such issues and report out as decisions get made and actions taken.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academic Master Plan (AMP) Update: Steering Committee Scores and Reviews AoS AMP Proposals [October 30]: <\/strong>The Academic Master Plan is a huge Provost-run initiative bringing together various college stakeholders to propose projects and initiatives with promise to advance the college\u2019s strategic plans. Full-time faculty members (as well as other constituencies) play crucial roles during the AoS-driven proposal development stage and as members of the Steering Committee (FTF is represented by the current, future, and last two past FTFS presidents). We reviewers were uniformly impressed with the twenty-six proposals we evaluated. Visit the AMP website<\/a> for all the details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

26th<\/sup> Annual Giving Tree \u2013<\/strong> The time has come to spread some cheer and bring smiles to our students and their families. The ACC Support Center is having their 26th Annual Giving Tree! Purchase a holiday gift for ACC Support Center families.
