This edition of\nthe Standard, delivered to you by TLED while our own mass mail distribution\nprogram is under repair, reflects many the projects and initiatives from across\nthe college. I\u2019m soliciting agenda items for the next FTFS meeting on January\n22, a meeting that will include a senate wide debrief and articulation of next\nsteps following the VC Summit. Find information and links to the summit Zoom,\nthe TLED Web Conference (the terms video conference and web conference are\ninterchangeable for our purposes) comparison table, and a quick pre-summit\nsurvey collecting data on what faculty are actually using.&nbsp; Even if you can\u2019t make it to the summit\n(which will be recorded for future viewing), we\u2019d appreciate it if you\ncompleted the pre-summit survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201cbig\u201d news is that we\u2019re <strong>temporarily suspending the senator nomination<\/strong> process after\ndiscovering a problem with the new nomination form reflecting the new bylaws.\nWe\u2019re working on revising the process and form to reflect new constituent group\ndefinitions and senator categories. We\u2019ll re-launch the nomination process as\nsoon as we have made the necessary revisions. Our agenda included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Updates on the revision process of the Full-Time\nFaculty Handbook and the Faculty Evaluation Handbook.<ul><li>During\na meeting between the FSLT and TLED AVP Dr. Susy Thomason, we learned the\nrevisions are in progress but slowed by the pandemic disruption and\nobservations made while revisions were implemented. During the process, the\nrevision teams realized the handbooks required an entire overhaul rather than\nmere updating. Reconceiving the handbooks led to meetings with process holders\nand experts. For example, the Faculty Development and Evaluation shared\ngovernance committee is engaged in a comprehensive review of faculty evaluation\nprocesses. The Faculty Evaluation handbook cannot be completed until all the\nnew policies and practices are in place.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>A\nsolid draft of the Full-Time Faculty Handbook will be posted for public review\nand comment in the near future. While the Faculty Evaluation revision process\ngrows out a shared governance committee, we don\u2019t have a similar structure in\nplace to ensure a strong faculty voice in the handbook revisions. FSLT will be\nsharing with the Chancellor\u2019s Cabinet ideas on how the full-time faculty voice\ncan be amplified in the handbook revision process.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>The\nnew target date for both is fall \u201921. <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Updates on several technology issues: 1) a\nportal for non-shared governance where workgroups and task forces can share\ntheir agendas, activities, and minutes of their meetings so all have access, 2)\na centralized, college-wide volunteer request portal based on the processes the\nFTFS uses to solicit volunteers, 3) the conversion of what had been triplicate\npaper forms (grade change, change of schedule, incompletes) to fully online\nforms, and 4) progress on the Preferred Name utility for faculty and staff<ul><li>The\nnon-shared governance reporting portal has been designed and implementation\ncontinues<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>The\ncentralized Volunteer sign-up is in progress. We need to clarify if this tool\nwill exist in the soon-to-be released faculty portal or as part of the\ncentralized cross-college communications area.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Roll\nouts of these tools are contingent on the roll out of the new Faculty Online\nServices portal, with phase one released April 2021 and phase two released July\n2021<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Digital\nreplacements for triplicate hard copy forms are scheduled for roll out February\n2021.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>The\nPreferred Name Change tool for faculty and staff has been designed. HR is\nworking through some policy and legal issues related to employee privacy\nrights.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Updates on the VC Summit: We offered an update\non the VC Summit planning. We\u2019re close to set for the Friday, February 5 event.<\/li><li>Faculty Well-Being<ul><li>Enhanced\nmental health services<ul><li>Based\non reports from full-time faculty members regarding poor or inadequate access\nto mental health services through EAP or Blue Cross\/Blue Shield, we suggested\nthe college could be doing more to support faculty well-being and success. HR\nwill explore how it may share more information via their personnel who promote\nemployee physical health. FSLT suggested ACC use new federal relief funds to\naddress this need. To be continued \u2026<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li>ACC\ncoronavirus vaccination support<ul><li>As\nnoted in Dr. Molly Beth Malcom\u2019s 1\/27 email to ACC staff and faculty, the major\nissue remains supply. She represents the college on many local and regional\nworkgroups focused on pandemic strategies. She will keep the ACC community in\nthe conversation and updated as the vaccination campaign continues.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Board of Trustee Meeting Notes [Monday, February 1, 2021]: <\/strong>The\nagenda included reports from community groups (UFCU, Austin Chamber of\nCommerce, and Educate Texas) that work with ACC to enhance student access and\nsuccess. Several internal ACC deans and workgroups (Alumni Network, the Fast\nTrack initiative, the Equity Council, Texas Student Success Council) reported\non the progress of various student success initiatives. None of the agenda\nitems broached issues of primary concern to faculty such as budgets or new policies.\nVisit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/board-of-trustees\/board-meetings\">Board\nof Trustees home page<\/a> to find agendas, minutes, and video recordings of\npast meetings for the nitty gritty details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>New Textbook Selection Platform: <\/strong>We at TLED are excited for our\nupcoming launch of the Adoption &amp; Insights Portal, your new source for\nresearching, adopting, and sharing insights about textbooks and course\nmaterials.&nbsp;Access to Faculty Enlight, the current textbook selection\nplatform, will no longer be available after Friday, February 5. Keep your\neyes open for a future announcement with the link to the new portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This new portal will help us\nachieve our goals of student success and retention by ensuring course material\nadoptions are submitted at a 100% submission rate by our adoption deadline.\nSubmitting your adoptions early and directly to the bookstore ensures that\nstudents will get the right course materials for their course at the most\naffordable price.
