One of the harder issues in doing Senate work is to effectively communicate with faculty. We use surveys, polls, email announcements, etc. to hear the voice of the faculty.\u00a0 I understand this sometimes is overwhelming and we are looking for ways to improve communication.

ACC\u2019s New College Values – Survey<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
We previously asked faculty to fill out a survey on the new college values. Since then, we have had more discussions with the Chancellor and we have developed a new short survey for both full-time and adjunct faculty. The values will be integrated into job descriptions, processes, and our evaluations of each other. The college will go into depth on both the Theory of Change and Values at the collegewide Data Summit on Wednesday, March 27.\u00a0–

The Chancellor introduced the new values at his town hall talk<\/a> on January 19th (begins at 28:11) and had a more concrete discussion of these with the Board of Trustees at the February 12 special session<\/a> (begins at 10:18).\u00a0\u00a0

As this process is a collegewide effort, we need to include everyone\u2019s voice.\u00a0 Please fill out the following short survey<\/a> where we are looking to codify these values for all faculty by 5 pm on Tuesday, March 19.\u00a0<\/td><\/tr>
Senate Meeting March 8 – Call for Agenda Items<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>

Search Committee for the Associate Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
We have been asked to submit the names of two faculty members to be part of the search committee for the Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences position.\u00a0 Health Sciences programs are complex, varied, and there are high expectations for growth.\u00a0 We have 14 different credit workforce programs in health care fields as well as CE programs. These programs come with accreditation bodies, the need for clinical affiliations and placements, and industry demands for growth.\u00a0 The health sciences programs deserve strategic and innovative leadership and our Chancellor approved the creation of this position to better serve the needs of our healthcare partners and the residents of Central Texas.\u00a0 Please fill in the following\u00a0form\u00a0<\/a>if you are interested in being part of this committee.\u00a0<\/td><\/tr>
15 Minute Logout Time – A Poll<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
Some faculty have been logged off their ACC computers after a 15 minute inactivity period.  This timeout has impacted instruction for some of these faculty members.  We would like to know the extent of this timeout.  Please fill out this poll<\/a>.<\/td><\/tr>
ASAC: Open for Faculty Comments<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
Item one:<\/strong>\u00a0Revised <\/em>Faculty Evaluation Form<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 <\/em>\u00a0

This is a follow\/up to the existing Guideline\/Procedure 4.1201.02.1 that was approved on 5\/9\/23.\u00a0 As we move into this new approach to evaluation, ASAC approved a draft of the content<\/strong> of the updated evaluation summary form.\u00a0 We are requesting faculty feedback on the content that will eventually be available in a fillable form and a cleaner format.

Item two:<\/strong>\u00a0Faculty Librarians G\/P<\/em><\/a>This G\/P (Guideline\/Procedures) is related to faculty evaluations for librarians.\u00a0 To support the updates to the faculty evaluation process adopted in AY 2023, these Guidelines\/Procedures were drafted for Faculty Librarians and are available for faculty comment.

Faculty Senate Nominations are now open through Monday, March 4.<\/strong>

Thanks to all those who already have turned in their nominations for next year.\u00a0 We are extending the deadline for the first round of nominations through March 4 for both Senators and President-Elect.\u00a0\u00a0

The minimum time commitment for being a Senator is 1.5 hours a month for attending Faculty Senate meetings, usually held on the second Friday of the month from 12-1:30 pm. Here is a list of some other tasks a Senator might spend more time a month on:
– reading\/responding to emails, including preparatory readings,\u00a0<\/em>
– participating in other Senate related meetings,\u00a0<\/em>
– discussing issues with constituents,\u00a0<\/em>
– reading and voting on meeting minutes,\u00a0<\/em>
– occasionally volunteering for a project or being part of a workgroup,<\/em>
– attending additional emergency Faculty Senate meetings on controversial issues<\/em>.

We hope that you will consider serving the college by sharing your opinions and experience as a Senator.\u00a0\u00a0

Mental Health First Aid Trainings<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis. The course is an 8-hour, in-person training. ACC brings in nationally certified trainers in MHFA for these courses. This semester we are offering three dates: February 16th at Round Rock, March 6th at HLC and March 7th at EVC.
