My, how time flies!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"il\">Senate<\/span>\u00a0Meetings \/ Minutes \/ Agendas<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>9\/13\/19\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Senate<\/span>\u00a0Meeting \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>The\u00a0<span class=\"il\">senators<\/span>\u00a0are currently working on approving the minutes from this meeting. Keep your eyes peeled. They will be posted in an email later this week.<\/li>\n<li><strong>10\/11\/19\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Senate<\/span>\u00a0Meeting \u2013 SECOND CALL FOR AGENDA ITEMS \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Our next meeting will be noon-2pm in HBC 301. This is the second call for agenda items. Please submit any items to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:mpatters@austincc.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mpatters@austincc.edu<\/a>\u00a0or to your\u00a0<span class=\"il\">senator<\/span>\u00a0by the deadline of Tuesday, October 1.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Agenda in Progress &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0Mike Midgley will join us to talk about the campus master planning process, and how faculty can get involved. Amanda Dean, from our new ombuds office will discuss her role and how she can help serve faculty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Action Items:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Change in\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Senate<\/span>\u00a0Emails &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>At the 9\/13\/19 meeting,\u00a0<span class=\"il\">senators<\/span>\u00a0voted unanimously to ensure that the\u00a0<span class=\"il\">senate<\/span>\u00a0mailing list is used only for\u00a0<span class=\"il\">senate<\/span>\u00a0business or things that directly relate to the role of faculty at ACC. As such, they asked that we limit the number of emails the\u00a0<span class=\"il\">senate<\/span>\u00a0forwards about special interests, internal and external marketing. When we get these requests, we will be asking people to share their emails with TLED, for inclusion in the TLED newsletter. Boots and Bats Donations [deadline October 11]<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Senate<\/span>\u00a0has been invited to create a basket to be auctioned off at the Boots and Bats Silent Auction on November 2. Any money earned will go to supporting ACC Student Scholarships.\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Senate<\/span>\u00a0Treasurer Beth Frye has agreed to coordinate our efforts. PLEASE donate an item for our basket<strong>!<\/strong>\u00a0To learn more about Boots and Bats,\u00a0<strong>including how to donate,\u00a0<\/strong>please read\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1yrh9lQ2PSW9vWg01rYYfHJ5bAiWOFgoZ804fuN4lj8g\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>THIS LETTER<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0from Beth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Newsworthy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span class=\"il\">Senate<\/span>\u00a0Standing Committee on Nominations<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 This group has already met and has proposed a timeline for special elections in early December (per our bylaws) to fill the two empty\u00a0<span class=\"il\">senator<\/span>\u00a0positions. If you are a faculty member on the Elgin or San Gabriel campuses, please consider running to represent your colleagues. We\u2019ll be in touch with more as the nomination process gets closer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Testing Centers &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>This summer, a \u201cTesting Center Workgroup\u201d convened to discuss possible changes to the current testing center policy. The workgroup submitted a report to the administration, and you can see it\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=1k0hmDQIon4l4q0LhypuQIvDU59Yj4Q2Q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a>. This report will now have to go through the shared governance structure, and will be discussed at the next\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/facstaff\/organizational-reference\/shared-governance-councils-and-committees\/academic-and-student-affairs-council\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ASAC\u00a0<\/a>(Academic and Student Affairs Council) meeting on October 4. If you are interested in this item, you should contact a faculty\u00a0<span class=\"il\">senate<\/span>\u00a0representative on that council and share your perspectives on the report. You can find the representatives\u2019 names on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/facstaff\/organizational-reference\/shared-governance-councils-and-committees\/academic-and-student-affairs-council\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ASAC\u00a0<\/a>page. They are listed as \u201cFT Faculty (One from different dean areas)\u201d. It is important to note that the report suggests that any changes to testing center policy be presented to faculty with one full semester of lead time, so no changes will be implemented this semester.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;ll be in touch later this week with the complete minutes from the 9\/13\/19 meeting.
