What is ACC Free Tuition?
The ACC Free Tuition pilot program eliminates the cost of tuition and general fees at Austin Community College for eligible students in the ACC service area.
As a pilot program, ACC Free Tuition will fully support graduating high school students and TX GED® completers from the Class of 2024 through the Class of 2028, providing three to five years of tuition exemption directly following their high school completion.
Do I Qualify for Free Tuition?
Check to see if you qualify for the ACC Free Tuition pilot program!
You need to live in the ACC service area AND meet one of the following qualifying statements:
- You graduate from a high school in the ACC service area (public or private) between spring 2024 and August 2028. View a list of most of the high schools in our service area.
- You graduate from a homeschool program between spring 2024 and August 2028.
- You earned your TX GED® between July 1, 2023 and August 31, 2028.
- You qualify as a Texas resident. The program is not available to out-of-state and international students at this time.

What is ACC Free Tuition?
The ACC Free Tuition pilot program eliminates the cost of tuition and general fees at Austin Community College for eligible students.
It starts with the high school class of 2024 and will continue over the next five years for high school graduates and TX GED® completers who live in the ACC service area.
What Do I Get?
You get FREE tuition and general fees at ACC for 3 years (or up to 5 years if you want to pursue your bachelor’s degree with ACC). Your free tuition applies to classes that go toward one of our associate or bachelor’s degree programs, or credit workforce certificate courses.
What Will I Still Owe?
What you still owe will depend on where you live in ACC’s service area.
You may be responsible for other college fees and costs such as:
- Any Course/Program Specific Fee (e.g, science labs)
- Textbook Costs
- Tuition for Continuing Education Programs and Audit courses
- ACC’s Out-of-District Fee ($201 per credit hour)

In-District: You live in-district if you pay taxes to the ACC District. These areas are shaded in green on the map.
Out-of-District: You live out-of-district if you live within the ACC service area but do not pay taxes to ACC. These areas are shaded in purple on the map. You will still get free tuition, but will owe the out-of-district fee for any course you enroll in.
