A Health Sciences background is not required to apply.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must meet the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=1SxuYiqn9G1UNjJ5Pqk-DEKIfWUfsv_cw\">Technical Standards<\/a>\u00a0required by the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Deadline&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;deadline&#8221;][vc_column_text]New students are accepted into the Radiology program in the Fall.<\/p>\n<p>The application period begins on <strong>September 1<\/strong>, and applications must be physically received by 11:59 p.m. on <strong>February 1 <\/strong>for admission in the following Fall semester. If February 1 falls on a weekend, the deadline will be extended to the next regular business day.\u00a0All items must be approved in CastleBranch before your application will be accepted.<\/p>\n<p>If an applicant is not admitted to the program and wishes to re-apply, all application steps must be repeated and completed by the February 1 application deadline. For questions regarding choosing a \u201cP\u201d versus a performance grade (A, B, C) please contact <a href=\"mailto:kathryn.whiting@austincc.edu\">kathryn.whiting@austincc.edu<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>You are encouraged to obtain the highest grades for the prerequisite courses as this is crucial in the ranking process. Your GPA in prerequisite courses is 60% or your ranking score.<\/li>\n<li>A sample admission ranking formula can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=1Ax7GykAxj58N2OhMvFWoN68ke9PSPMDr\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Final ranking scores are arranged from the highest score to the lowest score and the top 50 applicants are offered a position in the program. In addition, up to 10 alternate applicants will be offered a position in the Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist Certificate Program.<\/li>\n<li>In the event someone declines a position or does not respond by the stated deadline, the program will offer the position to the applicant next in line in the ranking.<\/li>\n<li>Offers of admission are emailed to the applicant\u2019s ACC email account in February.<\/li>\n<li>Campus Assignment: the admission process includes that the student declares a campus assignment, either the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/campuses\/eastview-campus\">Eastview Campus<\/a>\u00a0or the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/campuses\/round-rock-campus\">Round Rock Campus<\/a>, upon accepting their offer of admission to the Radiology Program. This assignment is permanent for the duration of the 2-year program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Provisional Admission Information&#8221;]Admission to the Radiology program is provisional until the following requirements are met. Please arrange to be available during the approximate time periods. Specific dates are normally made available in February or early March. <strong>Do not take action on these items until instructed by the department:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mandatory Observation Orientation conducted mid-March<\/li>\n<li>Clinical observations at local imaging departments must take place in the Spring (the department will determine the exact deadline each year).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/health\/criminal-background-check\/\">Criminal Background Check<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1fVW6kltMzyR-9T9CvmhSdu0jPgHGbE9T\/view?usp=drive_link\">Health Data Form<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have concerns about events in your background, you may contact the Health Sciences Compliance Coordinator Lisa Enloe at (512) 223-0224 or <a href=\"mailto:lenloe@austincc.edu\">lenloe@austincc.edu<\/a>.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Clinical Requirements&#8221;]You must meet the following requirements to participate in clinical. <strong>Do not take action on these items until instructed by the department:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/health\/student\/resources\/#tb-testing\">TB Testing<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/health\/student\/resources\/#cpr\">CPR Certification<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/health\/insurance\/\">Proof of Health Insurance<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/health\/flu-shot\/\">Seasonal Flu Vaccine<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/health\/drug-screening\/\">Drug Screening<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Online Education Modules<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Deferral Policy&#8221;]Students who are admitted to the Radiology program may choose to defer their enrollment for one year based on the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The student experiences a medical event or condition that would prevent the student from safely continuing with the program at that time.<\/li>\n<li>The student is called up to Active Military Duty that will extend into the initial semester of the program and will be unable to complete the program requirements in time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For students who must defer due to medical or health related concerns, the following process must be followed:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/13vkJnikqi8F84g8r2lb-qndwZ6dVikLv\/view?usp=sharing\">Deferral of Admission Form<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Send a copy of the Deferral of Admission Form along with documentation from a medical professional that states the student is unable to fulfill the program requirements at this time due to medical or health concerns to the Department Chair and the Department Administrative Assistant (contact information can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/health\/radr\/facstaff\/\">here<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Submit a letter of intent to continue with the program along with proof of a medical release from your physician or healthcare provider to the Department Chair <strong>no later than February 1st of the following year<\/strong>. Students are encouraged to provide a copy of the Technical Standards to their physician at the time of their physical examination.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>If the student is unable to obtain a medical release by February 1st due to ongoing health-related concerns, the student will need to re-apply to the program once he or she is cleared by a physician.<\/p>\n<p>For students who must defer due to a call to Active military duty, the following process must be followed:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/13vkJnikqi8F84g8r2lb-qndwZ6dVikLv\/view?usp=sharing\">Deferral of Admission Form<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Send a copy of the Deferral of Admission Form along with documentation from the U.S. Military outlining the terms\/dates of the Active Duty to the Department Chair and the Department Administrative Assistant via email (contact information can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/health\/radr\/facstaff\/\">here<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Submit a letter of intent to continue with the program to the Department Chair NO later than February 1st of the following year via email.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>The deadline for Deferral is August 15.<\/strong> If the student does not meet all the above requirements by the deadlines listed, he or she will need to re-apply to the program during the next admission cycle. Students may only defer admission one time. All program and admission requirements must be met at the time of admission.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Readmission Policy&#8221;]If a student is withdrawn from the program for any reason, he or she is eligible to apply for readmission to the program one time only. Readmission must be within two years of withdrawal\/failure. If eligible for readmission the student must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meet all current admission criteria, including all CastleBranch requirements<\/li>\n<li>Complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1dUEd0c8OsEQl9YsTGowcP_KthWYCoFZK\/view?usp=sharing\">Readmission Form<\/a> and submit a Letter of Intent to the Department Chair via email by the designated deadline:\n<ul>\n<li>Fall readmission deadline: February 1<\/li>\n<li>Spring readmission: September 1<\/li>\n<li>Summer readmission: January 15<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Complete any and all readmission requirements that were issued to the student upon withdrawal<\/li>\n<li>Meet with Department Chair to confirm all readmission requirements have been satisfactorily completed prior to readmission<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Students will be readmitted provided there is clinical space available. <\/strong>The following structure will determine the priority level of returning student readmission.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Priority 1: Students who withdrew from the program citing health reasons that fall under the U.S. Education Amendments Act of 1972 (Title IX). These students are offered readmission to the program regardless of clinical space availability.<\/li>\n<li>Priority 2: Students who withdrew from the program citing personal reasons other than those covered under the Title IX Amendment, and were in good standing in all academic and clinical courses at the time of withdrawal.<\/li>\n<li>Priority 3: Students who withdrew due to failure of any of the didactic courses but were successful in the clinical\u00a0 course at the time of withdrawal.<\/li>\n<li>Priority 4: Students who withdrew due to failure in the clinical course but were successful in the didactic course(s) at the time of withdrawal.<\/li>\n<li>Priority 5: Students who were dismissed from the program due to unsafe and\/or unprofessional clinical behavior and\/or performance (refer to \u201cUnprofessional Practice\u201d section of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/health\/programs\/handbooks\/#radr\">Radiology Program Handbook<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students are only allowed to be placed on probation one time during the entire program.\u00a0 Any additional violations that would result in probation will result in withdrawal from the program and the student will NOT be eligible for a second readmission (refer to Probationary Procedures in the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/health\/programs\/handbooks\/#radr\">Radiology Program Handbook<\/a>).[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Special Notes&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;special-notes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You are encouraged to view the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/health\/radr\/faq\/\">Radiology FAQ<\/a> for more information about the program.<\/li>\n<li>Students wanting to transfer from another Radiology program in the State of Texas, please read the department\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=1OATZEVX57AGx33JbrhaqxQUWAU2-oYFv\">Statement on the Transfer of Radiology Course credits<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Students interested in the Radiology program are advised to be diligent and proactive in routinely reviewing this website for updates to the application process and\/or the degree plan and for department announcements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Taking required prerequisite courses over for a higher grade:<\/h4>\n<p>If a course is repeated, the highest grade will be considered in the admission ranking formula.
