The first time I heard of ACC was back in 1986, I went to the basement at the Rio Grande Campus and signed up for courses. Well, I relocated and did not complete my degree. Eventually I did graduate from a community college in Illinois and being the first to graduate college in my family, I thought that I had “made it.” I moved back to Texas in 1997, and worked for an environmental firm that had a stable history, and had been in Austin for many years. Well, they were bought by a firm in Colorado and that firm decided to close the Austin location. When asked if I would move to Colorado, I had to think about not only myself, but my family as well. Needless to say, I found myself unemployed. The first place I thought of was ACC. I came back to ACC in the summer of 2003 as a full time student. I got a position as a work study in the biology department in the fall of 2003, and then in March of 2004, became a full time science lab technician for the biology department. Well, I have worked for ACC for the last 8 years, and wouldn’t dream of working anywhere else. ACC has been there for me, through thick and thin, and that is the reason why I am ACC!!
