The Reagan Bradshaw Scholarship is named after the late Reagan Bradshaw, a local nationally known and well-respected, photographer who died two years ago in a plane crash. Bradshaw was an avid landscape photographer. He authored several books including “Forgotten Texas: A Wilderness Portfolio,” “The Great State of Texas” and “Indian Life in Texas.”

“Reagan spent his life giving to others,” said Clem Spalding, A.S.M.P. board member of the Austin/San Antonio chapter. “This scholarship is a fitting tribute to a man who worked tirelessly as an advocate protecting the rights and wages of photographers. His legacy will live on through those who looked up to him and aspire to follow the trail he blazed.”

Bradshaw was also well known for his lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C., seeking better legal copyright protections for freelance photographers.

“I am absolutely delighted and have such gratitude to the A.S.M.P. for contributing to this fund in Reagan’s memory,” said Bradshaw’s wife Elizabeth. “More importantly, this scholarship fund will support ACC’s photography department, which comes closest to teaching the type of work Reagan spent his life doing, which was mainly in the area of commercial photography. Reagan would be pleased to know that this fund exists in his name and that students will have some type of assistance in pursuing their life-long dream in photography.”

“We are thrilled to receive this scholarship, said Lynn Jones, ACC’s program coordinator for Photography. “This endowment will allow us to continue to train students to follow in Reagan Bradshaw’s footsteps using their photographic talents.”

Bradshaw served on the board of the National A.S.M.P. and founded the Austin/San Antonio chapter.
