ACC to Host Recruiting Fair to Increase Adjunct Faculty

Austin, Texas — Do you have a skill or some special expertise you have always wanted to teach others? If so, Austin Community College invites you to attend its Adjunct Faculty Recruiting Fair on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at ACC’s Highland Business Center, located at 5930 Middle Fiskville rd., room 201.

” We are having to hire more qualified instructors to keep pace with the growing number of students enrolling at ACC,” said Gerry Tucker, ACC’s associate vice president of human resources. “It is important that our faculty reflect the student population we serve. Creating a pool of adjuncts from diverse backgrounds ultimately enriches our students’ educational experience.”

Qualified individuals are particularly needed in the following areas for the 2003 spring semester: Biology, Chemistry, Economics, and English as a Second Language, Visual Communication Design. Please check the Human Resources website for additional information: http://www2.austincc.edu/hr.

All applicants must have at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field and a master’s degree or a master’s degree in the teaching area. Technical/specialty courses in the associate degree programs require both appropriate academic preparation and work experience. Individuals interested must bring a copy of their resume and a college transcript, relevant portfolio samples and a list of references to the fair.
