Austin Energy officials expect more than 25 percent of their workforce to retire within the next five years. This means hundreds of workers will be needed to repair utility lines and meters, and to monitor distribution systems.

In response to the need for skilled workers in the utility industry, Austin Community College recently developed the Power Technology Program.
