September 12, 2006 – ACC student Thomas Upchurch was one in 29 community college students nationwide selected to receive the 2006 Phi Theta Kappa Leaders of Promise Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship awarded to new Phi Theta Kappa members to help off-set educational expenses.

“This is a noteworthy honor because it recognizes the potential success of outstanding students such as Thomas,” said Rod A. Risley, Phi Theta Kappa executive director.

Upchurch is working towards his associate of arts degree in creative writing and plans to go to law school.
