TSSB recognizes college’s program

The Biotechnology Laboratory Technician Associate of Applied Science Degree Program at Austin Community College recently received recognition from the Texas Skill Standards Board (TSSB) for being integrated with the industry-defined Biotechnology and Biomedical Skill Standards for research, development, and manufacturing.
The skill standards define the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required for entry-level positions in the industry. Content was defined by front-line workers, first-line supervisors, and professionals from a range of state, national, and international firms representing all aspects of the industry including research, development, manufacturing, and regulatory functions.
Dr. Linnea Fletcher, chair of ACC’s Biotechnology Department, was responsible for integrating the skill standards into the Biotechnology Laboratory Technician AAS Degree program.
