Dental Hygiene Student Cuts Teeth as State Delegate

The Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association (TDHA) sponsored its annual session for the 21 dental hygiene programs in Texas on February 2 and 3 at the Omni Hotel in San Antonio. More than 400 dental hygiene students from throughout the state attended, including Austin Community College’s Holly Dees.

Dees gave a brief presentation as to why she was qualified to serve as student delegate. She was elected by a large majority over her two opponents.

Dees will not only represent the students by being a voting member in the TDHA Annual Session House of Delegates, but she will also serve as mediator all year between the TDHA and the Student Dental Hygienists’ Association (SADHA). She has already been actively at work by communicating with the Texas schools, the TDHA, and participating in the legislative “Hygienists on the Hill” session held earlier this month at the Capitol.

Dees will represent ACC in September at a TDHA session in Dallas.
