Six Austin Community College campuses will participate August 7 in National Night Out, a free event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. NNO also generates support and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthens neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership, and sends a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Pinnacle, Northridge, Rio Grande, South Austin, Riverside, and Eastview will begin their observance at 11 a.m. Most campuses will have EMS members present, as well as representatives from the Austin Police Department and Austin Fire Department.

ACC’s Campus Police will participate in the NNO opening ceremony at the Pan American Center in East Austin from 5 to 7 p.m.

Now in its 24th year, the annual program involves more than 11,000 communities from across the United States, Canada, and military bases worldwide.
