As New Careers Surge , So Does Need For Career Coaches

Austin, TX – August 7, 2007 – If you would like to help people land their dream job, you can become part of the growing field of career coaching.

The Austin Community College District (ACC) has partnered with the Certified Career Practitioner Institute (CCPI) to offer a program that provides the skills and credentials you need to become a professional career coach.

“We are facing explosive job trends across the nation, and there is a huge shortage of certified career coaches nationwide, said Linda M. Ginac, Ginac Group chief executive officer. “This joint effort equips students with the specialized skills to become well-trained professionals who can address an increasing population with career issues.”

“This training program will teach students the basics of career development, including how to assess skills, identify work issues, analyze the labor market, and carry out career coaching techniques,” said Sandy Gaskin, ACC Continuing Education executive dean.

Career coach students will complete the eight-class CCPI program required for certification. Students will also receive the opportunity to participate in an apprentice program at CCPI to practice their new career coaching skills.

Register now for classes that start in the fall.
