Fifteen students in Austin Community College’s Student Government Association (SGA) will travel to the American Student Government Association National Conference in Washington, D.C., held Sept. 27-30. The students will attend workshops and roundtables to receive assistance in enhancing student government.

Along with the conference, the students will have an opportunity for congressional visits. They plan to meet with aides from senators’ offices, including Lloyd Doggett, Mike Conaway, John Cornyn, and Kay Bailey Hutchison, as well as an informal coffee meeting with Senator Hutchison herself.

The students hope to discuss the importance of community colleges, the growing need for funding, and the significance of SGA members being active in the community.
