ACC Students Designing Floral Arrangements For Valentine’s Day

AUSTIN, TX – February 11, 2008 – Students in Austin Community College’s Floral Design classes will be busy this week preparing flower arrangements to sell for Valentine’s Day. Media wishing to attend a class may do so Monday through Thursday morning, 9 a.m. to noon, or in the evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Highland Business Center, Room 110.

While many students take the class as a hobby, others are interested in a career in the field of floral design, said Continuing Education Program Coordinator Addie Kellington.

“Students learn all the design principles, elements of designs, how the industry works,” said Kellington, a floral design instructor for nearly four years. “It’s just a fun class too.”

The program will sell Valentine’s flowers ranging in price from $10 to $45. Vases of roses, tulips, carnations and other arrangements will be available. All proceeds benefit the floral design program. Contact Kellington at 223.7813 or [email protected] for information.
