National Institute recognizes ACC President

Austin, Texas – May 27, 2008 – Dr. Stephen Kinslow, President and CEO of the Austin Community College District, received the 2008 International Leadership Award Sunday, May 25, from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) during its annual conference in Austin.

“NISOD has been making a difference nationally and internationally in community college leadership for over 40 years,” said Kinslow.  “To be recognized by them is a true honor.”

Dr. Kinslow was been ACC president since June 2005.  He joined ACC in 1977 and has served the college in various roles, including academic, student, and business areas.

Dr. Kinslow is a graduate of Leadership Austin and participates in community activities throughout Central Texas. He serves on the boards of Leadership Round Rock, the Texas Association of Community Colleges, the ACC Center for Public Policy and Political Studies, the E3 Alliance, the Community Action Network Resource Council, and the Texas Campus Compact.  He previously was a board member of Skillpoint Alliance and Austin Partners in Education.

Since 1976, NISOD has been dedicated to the professional development of faculty, administrators, and staff, and to the continued improvement of teaching and learning, with the ultimate goal of student success.

The NISOD annual conference continues at the Austin Convention Center through Wednesday, May 28.
