Hurricane Ike Update #4

Austin Community College will resume regular operations and classes on Sunday morning, September 14.

Austin Community College will remain closed through Saturday evening and re-open Sunday morning. Visit www.austincc.edu for updates and announcements this weekend.

Austin Community College will end all classes on Friday, September 12th, at 2:00 p.m. due to anticipated heavy vehicle traffic on area major roadways as residents from along the Gulf Coast move inland to escape Hurricane Ike. The Austin area expects heavy incoming traffic as evacuees travel to shelters in this region.

All students and non-essential employees may leave the college at 2:00 p.m. Friday. The college officially will close all offices and campuses at 4:00 p.m. and remain closed through Saturday evening.

At this time, ACC anticipates re-opening for classes on Sunday morning, September 14th. However, due to the nature of hurricanes, situations may change. For updates and announcements that may occur throughout the weekend, please check the ACC website at: www.austincc.edu.

College officials are continuing to monitor the advance of Hurricane Ike as it approaches the Texas Gulf Coast. At this time, due to a shift in the storm’s projected track that takes its path away from Austin, all college offices are expected to remain open and classes continue on a normal schedule. Because conditions can change rapidly with storms such as Hurricane Ike, any necessary updates will be posted as soon as possible.
