ACC Hosts Foreign Policy Panel Discussion

Austin, Texas— If you had ten minutes to talk with the next president, what would you say? Four leading foreign policy experts will be asked that question during “Foreign Policy Challenges Facing the Next President,” a panel discussion hosted by Austin Community College in collaboration with the Kozmetsky Center at St. Edward’s University. The event will be held Monday, October 20 at 7 p.m. at the Eastview Campus, 3401 Webberville Road, building 8000, room 8500.

“Our hope is to provide ACC students and the public with a chance to engage in a dialogue with the panelists,” said Gaye Lynne Scott, ACC Dean of Social & Behavioral Sciences. “This is a rare opportunity for us to expand our understanding of complex issues facing the next administration.”

Beyond the global financial crisis, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and nuclear proliferation, what will be the foreign policy challenges facing the next president? The public is invited to join in this enriching discussion. Admission is free.

The panelists include:
• Cynthia Arnson, Director of Latin American Program, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and former foreign policy aid, U.S. Congress, 1977-89.
• Philip Brenner, Director of United States Foreign Policy Field, School of International Service, American University, and former staff, U.S. Congress.
• Joseph T. Eldridge, University Chaplain, American University, and Founder/Executive Director, Washington Office on Latin America, 1974-86.
• William M. LeoGrande, Dean of School of Public Affairs, American University, and former staff, U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives.
