ACC Purchases Downtown Properties

AUSTIN, Texas (March 6, 2009) – Austin Community College District has announced the purchase of two downtown properties.

The ACC Board of Trustees voted, 8-0, on Monday, March 2, to approve the purchase of parcels at 800 and 812 W. 12th St. The college paid $1 million for the commercial sites, which were owned by Waterloo II Ltd.

The properties are located near the Rio Grande Campus, adjacent to the college’s parking garage, which is currently under construction at 824 W. 12th St.

The purchase is part of the college’s long-term master plan to invest in opportunities that will allow for expansion to accommodate future growth, according to Ben Ferrell, executive vice president of finance and administration. No immediate changes are planned.

The purchase was financed with general obligation bonds.
