Study Abroad class hosts silent auction

Students in Professor Becky Villarreal’s literature class will host a silent auction 2-5 p.m. Friday, April 24, in Room 201 of the Highland Business Center, 5930 Middle Fiskville Road., to support their upcoming Study Abroad trip.

The group is traveling to Great Britain in June as part of their British Literature studies.

“Most of the students (and their instructor) have never been to Europe or stayed in a dorm, as we will in London,” Villarreal says.

The group has already raised $415 and hopes to earn $1,000 at this auction. Items up for bid include:

Authentic copy of Shakespeare’s will;
Bath & Body Works basket;
Health and wellness coaching session;
Fostoria glassware;
Beanie Baby collection;
Hand-crafted jewelry;
Gold-plated pen and pencil set;
And more.

You can check out the items and pre-bid at Villarreal’s .

“Some of the students were hesitant to sign up because of the economic crisis, but the fund-raising idea encouraged them to forge ahead,” she says.
