Judith Wynn joined the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Accountability on May 18, 2009, as the Executive Assistant to the Associate Vice President, Soon Merz.  Judith holds a BS in Art Education from Lamar University and taught Art and Texas History in the Conroe Independent School District before starting a family and being a full time Mom.  In 1991 she became an Administrative Assistant to a Texas State Representative and spent the next 18 years in the Texas House of Representatives.  Her last position was as an Executive Assistant to State Representative Warren Chisum.

Transportation Survey ACC/Cap Metro Executive Summary (Preliminary Results)

In May 2009, Austin Community College conducted a survey of faculty, students, and staff to better understand their commuting patterns.  This survey was developed in collaboration with Capital Metro and was designed to gather information about the origination and destination locations of ACC faculty, students, and staff, including travel from home to ACC, between campuses, and destinations after leaving ACC.  Respondents were asked additional questions regarding their present and possible future use of various Capital Metro services. This survey was conducted as a follow-up to the transportation survey conducted in November and is part of ACC’s comprehensive transportation study.

A total of 1,818 people completed the survey
Respondent demographics:

  • 58% of respondents were students
  • 30% were full-time students
  • 28% were part-time students
  • 22% of respondents were staff members
  • 20% of respondents were faculty

A majority of respondents commuted either early or late morning to their primary ACC location. Early evening was the next most frequent time cited of commuting to ACC.

  • Early morning 7:00 – 9:00 AM (45%)
  • Late morning 9:00 – 11:00 AM (21%)
  • Early evening 5:00 – 7:00 PM (11%)

The top three campuses locations cited by respondents as the number one location where they spent the most time at included:

  • Northridge (22%)
  • Rio Grande (19%)
  • Riverside (12%)

The most frequent times cited for commuting from ACC to next destination:

  • Late afternoon (25%)
  • Early evening (21%)
  • Late evening (21%)

The primary locations traveled after leaving ACC:

  • Home (69%)
  • Work (7%)
  • Childcare provider (3%)

Traveling between campuses:

  • Approximately a third of respondents attended or worked at more than one campus (36%)
  • Top three methods of travel between campuses were
  • Car (87%)
  • Bus (8%)
  • Bike (1%)

Capital Metro Services:

  • Approximately one-seventh of respondents used Capital Metro services (14%)

The top three improvements to service cited that would lead to possible future use were:

  • Improved routes (28%)
  • Improved frequency of service (24%)
  • Improved schedule accuracy (17%)

Future use of Capital MetroRail

  • Yes (20%)
  • No (30%)
  • Don’t know (50%)
