ACC marks Juneteenth with Community Celebration

AUSTIN, Texas, June 16, 2009 – Austin Community College invites the community to take part in ACC’s Juneteenth Celebration. The event will be held on Thursday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 6.pm. at the ACC Eastview Campus, 3401 Webberville Road, Building 2000 Courtyard.

The event, sponsored by the Office of Student Success, will feature a diverse lineup of entertainment, with viewings of the Juneteenth Jamboree movie and music from the Austin Community Steelband and ACC’s Jazz Ensemble.

Additional highlights include contests, prizes, and art exhibits. Vendors will also be on site with jewelry, apparel, and other goods.

ACC will continue its celebration on Friday, June 19 by participating in the annual Juneteenth Historical Parade – the signature event of Austin’s Juneteenth festivities.
