ACC Helps Businesses “Go Green”

This fall, the Austin Community College District (ACC) is introducing a new management course to help businesses yearning to “go green” incorporate sustainability practices.

“Sustainable/Green Business: Principles, Practices, Opportunities” (BMGT 1371) begins August 25 and is among the first of its kind at the undergraduate level.

ACC selected David Kollen, an engineer by trade and a self-proclaimed “green geek” by practice, to teach the course. The class centers around science-based green business principles, practices needed to run a sustainable business, and opportunities to turn a passion for sustainability into a career.

The course includes lessons on minimizing natural resource utilization and waste generation and reducing energy consumption. The class will also examine the impact of consumer usage of disposable products.
