If your business faced a crisis, would you be ready?
This fall, the Austin Community College District (ACC) will offer a certification course that will prepare companies and workers to handle emergencies, disasters, and other interruptions to the flow of business. The course, Continuity Planning and Management, is taught in conjunction with DRI International – the globally recognized institute for continuity management. At the end of the 16-week course, students will take the DRI International qualifying exam and will be eligible to apply for their Associate Business Continuity Professional certification.

What are the prerequisites for this course? Is there grant money, scholarship money or loan money available for this course? If so, how do you apply? Will course be offered again in Spring 2010?

Hi Charlotte,
There are no prerequisites for this course and yes it will be offered in future semesters. Usually your employer will pay for an employee to take this course, however some students to pay for it themselves.
I would recommend gathering as much data on this program and Business Continuity as a whole and begin working with your employer (for-profit, non-for profit, business, or organization) and educating them on the need for certified workers within their organization to help prepare for emergencies, disasters or business interruptions.
If you go directly to DRI International’s website at http://www.drii.org, you’ll find additional information.
Thanks for the good questions.
