Celebrate Diez y Seis de Septiembre with ACC

The Austin Community College District invites you to celebrate Diez y Seis at the Riverside Campus on Wednesday, September 16. The event commemorates the date Mexico declared its independence from Spain nearly 200 years ago and honors Mexican history, heritage, and culture.

The Diez y Seis celebration will take place Wednesday, September 16, from noon to 1 p.m. The Riverside Campus is located at 1020 Grove Blvd. Diez y Seis is free and open to the public.

The first State Historian of Texas, Dr. Frank de la Teja, will explain the meaning of Diez y Seis, and you will enjoy the rhythmic steps of Roy Lozano’s Ballet Folklórico. Musical guests include Johnny Degollado y su Conjunto Band, Los Tres Amigos y Pepe Mariachi Group, and ACC’s own Boca Abajo.
