ACC operates a shuttle service at the Pinnacle Campus to ease parking congestion due to recent enrollment growth that exceeded expectations. Spring 2010 shuttle service is underway and will continue through May 13. Shuttles run Monday through Thursday between the parking area at the old Albertsons (Oak Hill Plaza at the “Y”) and the campus.
The first shuttle begins making runs at 7 a.m. The second bus, with ADA capabilities, begins operating at 8:20 a.m., and the third shuttle comes on at 9 a.m. These shuttles are on continuous rotations throughout their shifts. Two shuttles end operations for the day at 6 p.m., and the third makes rounds until 8 p.m. According to protocol, when all three shuttles are running, there will always be one shuttle at the old Albertson’s parking area, one at Pinnacle Campus, and the third bus en route between those locations.
For the first week of spring 2010 classes, the shuttle service averaged 417 riders per day. Ridership increased each day of that week. At this time, ACC staff and the shuttle contractor are evaluating ridership loads and trying to adjust the schedule to minimize wait times at the Oak Hill Plaza parking lot. This evaluation occurs each semester based on ridership loads. ACC’s goal is to provide timely service for students and employees, so please continue to provide feedback (comments section below) so the college can meet the needs of riders.
Should you need to reach the parking area after shuttle service ends for the day, please contact Pinnacle Campus police at 223-8014 for an escort. The police office is located on the first floor next to the elevators.
A new parking lot is now under construction at Pinnacle and expected to open for the fall 2010 semester. That lot will provide 440 new parking spots, for a total of 979 spaces at Pinnacle. The project team expects that will accommodate students, faculty, and staff even at peak times of the day, meaning shuttle service will no longer be necessary. The construction efforts also include another avenue to enter/exit Pinnacle property. Click here for updates on this parking project.

Can you please tell me what you consider to be the peak times of the day? I’d hate to use the shuttle to get to class and then find out that it is no longer running when I need to get back to my car.
Also, can you please tell me how long the ride is? I will start my first class at the Pinnacle campus in January, so I am not familiar with the situation yet.
thanks,

Dear Cynthia,
Based on the information from the fall 2009 semester, peak time for the shuttle starts at about 9 a.m. While the parking lots at the main campus generally fill up by 10 a.m., many students, faculty, and staff find it more convenient and efficient to go to the shuttle parking lot at the Oak Hill Plaza and ride the shuttle bus, instead of circling the campus lot.
The shuttle to campus usually takes about five minutes. It may take about ten minutes to get back to the shuttle parking because of the traffic light for cars leaving the campus.
The shuttle starts running at 7 a.m. with one bus, then the college adds a second shuttle at about 8:20 a.m. and a third at 9 a.m. The last bus runs until 8 p.m. to return students, faculty, and staff to their cars at the shuttle lot.
If you find yourself on campus after 8 p.m. and need assistance to get back to the shuttle parking area, please contact campus police. You may call Pinnacle Campus Police at 223-8014. The police office is located on the first floor next to the elevators.
