Pursuing a certificate in a high-demand field? You may be eligible for a state-funded scholarship. The Jobs and Education for Texas (JET) program offers financial aid for students pursuing certificates in the following areas:
- Computer & Information Sciences and Support Services
- Construction Trades
- Engineering Technologies/Technicians
- Health Professions & Related Clinical Sciences
- Mechanical & Repair Technologies/Technicians
- Precision Production
- Science Technologies/Technicians

This is a little frustrating as the high demand occupation that I am working toward is listed and would be eligible except for that it is NOT a CERTIFICATE program. You cannot work with just a certificate anymore in that field. Hence, the fact that it is not a certificate program, but rather an associate degree program, tells me that it is not an eligible program after all.

It would have been nice to know about this in advance. I have been by the financial aid office many times about scholarships and not one person told me about this!
