ACC Board of Trustees Election Set for Saturday, May 8

Three seats on the Austin Community College District Board of Trustees are on the ballot this Saturday, May 8. Trustees are elected at large by registered voters who live within ACC’s taxing district. This includes the Austin, Leander, Manor, Del Valle, and Round Rock school districts, along with the city of Austin (which includes portions of the Pflugerville and Eanes school districts). Candidates must also reside in the taxing district.

The ACC Board of Trustees provides high-level guidance to ensure the college’s programs and initiatives meet the needs of the communities served. The board develops ACC’s policies, priorities, long-term goals, and strategy; however, trustees do not manage the college or make specific operational decisions. The operation of the college is the responsibility of the ACC president – the only staff member the board hires.

Winning candidates must get 50 percent plus one vote. Should that not happen, a runoff would be held June 12. Here are the candidates as they will appear on the May 8 ballot:

Place 4

  • Jeffrey Kyle Richard

Place 5

  • Vic Villarreal
  • Davis Jones
  • David S. Reiter
  • Fred L. McGhee

Place 6

  • Michael Perrine
  • Raymond Hartfield
  • Guadalupe (Lupe) Sosa
