Weight Management: Getting to the Heart of the Matter

Tuesday, June 1st, HBC 12-1pm Room 301.0

(Please feel free to bring your lunch)

Lynn Zipoy, PhD, LPC, Psychotherapist in Private Practice

Beth Goldberg, LCDC, Certified Life Coach

Why do the majority of dieters gain back the weight that they have lost? While there is an abundance of information on eating a nutritious diet and getting adequate exercise, what seems to be missing in many weight management programs is one that seeks to understand the “whole” person – or a holistic approach.

A holistic approach to weight management is designed to bring 4 areas of our health into balance with one another: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Whatever our weight management goals may be, we can learn how to get to the “heart of the matter”.

ERS Benefits Updates

HR Benefits staff members will be visiting each campus in late-May and mid-June to discuss changes to the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) Group Benefit Plan (GBP) for Fiscal Year 2011 (effective September 1, 2010). The ERS Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday, May 25 to approve and announce changes to the GBP.

HR Benefits anticipates cost changes for the insurance plans offered to ACC employees. While we will not know the specifics of the changes today, we anticipate having that information after the ERS Board meeting May 25th and in time for the campus visits. We offer these sessions to keep our employees as informed as possible and to allow employees an opportunity to ask staff members’ questions in person.
