ACC Announces New Partnership with Stephen F. Austin State University

ACC President Dr. Stephen Kinslow, left, and Dr. Brian Murphy, Dean of SFA’s College of Liberal and Applied Arts, sign the articulation agreement.

The Austin Community College District is pleased to announce a new partnership with Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) in Nacogdoches.

The articulation agreement, formalized this month, aligns ACC’s Building Construction Technology program with SFA’s new Sustainable Development/Sustainable Living Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree. SFA’s program is the first of its kind in Texas.

The agreement ensures students in ACC’s Building Construction Technology Program can seamlessly continue their studies toward the SFA bachelor’s degree. Students will be able to enroll in SFA courses online and complete their bachelor’s degree without leaving the Austin area. The agreement also facilitates transfer from SFA to ACC.

“This agreement will make a genuine impact on the lives of our students and our community,” says Dr. Gary Hampton, dean of Applied Technologies, Multimedia, and Public Service. “Upon completion of this degree, our students will be able to enter the workforce with the ability to provide knowledge and skills necessary for the development of the sustainable construction industry.”

Through the partnership, ACC and SFA will promote the sharing of information between their faculty for program and course development. The agreement also calls for SFA to assist ACC transfer students with scholarship applications and course registration.

ACC students may transfer up to 66 credit hours to SFA. For more information, students may contact Warren Heatwole, chair of ACC’s Building Construction Technology Department, at [email protected] or (512) 223.6084.
