Benefits
ERS Annual Enrollment
The ERS Annual Enrollment period is July 5th – July 30st.
ERS has made it easier to access your benefit information and make Annual Enrollment changes online. You do not need to do anything to change your benefits unless you are:
- Making a change to your Insurance Benefits
- Enrolling in Tex Flex Reimbursement account for the first time.
ERS has enhanced ERS OnLine to provide more security for your account information. This enhancement requires you to register for an ERS OnLine account and create a new Username and Password. The registration process is an easy, step-by-step process that takes just a few minutes. To begin go to www.ers.state.tx.us and click the “View My Benefits” button at the top of the screen. If you don’t register now, you will have to register before you can make your Annual Enrollment changes.
HR Benefits will host our ACC Annual Enrollment Fair and presentation on Monday, July 26, 2010. The major changes will be discussed at this meeting. We will also be available at each campus to assist employees during Annual Enrollment (no presentation will be given at the campuses).

Adjunct Faculty-Update Electronic Applications
For Adjunct faculty intending to update their electronic applications the deadline is June 30th. Please ignore the ehire message that says the “job” closes on the 24th. The deadline has not changed.

Professional Development
ACC Software Day Coming July 9th
Mark your calendars for July 9th when ACC employees can update their computer skills at the third annual Software Day. This year’s workshops will include several online workshops such as “Adobe Connect,” “Windows Movie Maker,” and “Using Twitter as an Educational Tool.” Face-to-face workshops include the new operating system Windows 7, Audacity, Camtasia, and creating and uploading a video using a webcam to YouTube.
The website can be viewed at http://www.austincc.edu/hr/profdev/events/softwareday/. Enroll soon as classes fill early. Onsite classrooms will be available for online courses completion on July 9th.
Need More Online Professional Development?
As the deadline for completing professional development requirements for FY 10 nears an end (August 31st), you may be searching for different types online professional development activities than are currently available in the ACC Workshop & Event Registration database. A potential source is the Perkins-funded Texas Network located at http://txpod.org/. This free-of-charge site offers a variety of online training opportunities aimed at post-secondary education faculty and staff. The topics range from Engaging Students More Effectively to YouTube in the Classroom to Introduction to Computer Ethics. Registration for the Network is free and easy, taking no more than 5 minutes; after you have registered, you may sign up for any online courses available. Upon completion of the course, you can print a completion certificate to give to your supervisor. You can also maintain a transcript of completed courses.
