ACC Instructor Mulls ‘Mockingbird’ Impact

 Joe O’Connell, who teaches creative writing and English at ACC, took part in a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

July 11 marked half a century since the publication of the book that is required reading in schools across the country.

Along with a number of local writers, O’Connell participated in an anniversary event at BookPeople Sunday night, reading passages from the book and talking about what it meant to him. O’Connell reflected upon the impact of “To Kill a Mockingbird” in an essay he read on KUT radio. Click here to listen.
