South Austin Campus Receives Austin Access Award

The Austin Community College District’s South Austin Campus recently received the Austin Access Award in recognition of its dedication to equal acess and welcoming atmosphere.

“We are committed to the success of all students,” says Betsy Erwin, campus manager. “A big part of that is creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable, accepted, and respected.”

The city of Austin presents the Access Award to businesses that are fully accessible to all. Necessary accommodations include staff members trained to assist individuals with disabilities, in addition to accessible parking and restrooms. The South Austin Campus also has amenities not required by law, such as automated door openers.

All ACC campuses are compliant with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act; a community member nominated the South Austin Campus for the award because of the friendly staff.

Please contact the Office for Students with Disabilities for more information on academic support and physical accommodations.
