The Austin Community College District is ready to bring its new Riverbat mascot to life. ACC will host mascot tryouts Saturday, Sept. 18, beginning 9:30 a.m. at Riverside Campus (1020 Grove Blvd., Building G, Room 8100). Registration begins 9 a.m. Media are invited to attend.

Candidates will perform a prepared 2-minute routine in a generic mascot costume as well as an improvised skit; there also will be an interview.

The mascot position is open only to current ACC students. Winning candidates will perform as the college’s official mascot at events throughout the 2010-2011 academic year.

ACC is in the final stages of designing the new Riverbat logo and costume. The college will reveal the design in November.
