ACC President’s Message Following UT Shooting; Information on Emergency Messaging

The Austin Community College District was saddened by the events at the University of Texas Tuesday. Our thoughts are with the UT community as well as the loved ones of Colton Tooley.

I want to take this moment to assure you ACC has well-established emergency communications channels. We encourage both students and employees to update their emergency contact information on file with the college. In a crisis, it is imperative we are able to reach you to share critical information and instructions.

Visit the Emergency Messaging page to learn about voicemail, text message, and email alerts. You will find step-by-step instructions on how to receive messaging services. Students should also make sure they have activated their ACCMail (Gmail) accounts. In addition, ACC shares urgent information on the college homepage and emergency notification signs located throughout campus buildings.

Please take a few minutes to review this information. As we witnessed Tuesday, emergencies can happen any place, at any time – and the safety and wellbeing of our students and employees is our highest priority.

Stephen B. Kinslow, Ph.D.
