ACC Selects Architects for Campuses

The Austin Community College District Board of Trustees has selected four architect/engineering teams to design proposed campuses in Bastrop, Elgin, Hays (Kyle/Buda), and San Marcos:

The ACC Master Plan calls for the construction of campuses in those areas contingent upon annexation into the ACC District. Voters within the geographic boundaries of the local ISDs will decide in November whether to join the district; McDade ISD voters will also consider annexation. Only registered voters from each area can vote in their community’s election.

“By moving forward with the campus planning process, we can more quickly bring all promised programs and services to communities that join the ACC District to expand access to education and training at a more affordable price,” says Dr. Stephen B. Kinslow, ACC president/CEO.

The Request for Qualifications posted this summer brought 56 submissions. ACC staff narrowed the field to eight firms that outlined their services for the board in September.

The college has entered into contracts for properties in Bastrop, Elgin, Kyle, and San Marcos; ACC expects to open the first phases of the new campuses in fall 2013 for those communities that approve annexation. ACC has published individual Service Plans for each area (services and programs the college will bring to the community) and held public hearings to share that information and receive comments from residents.
