The Central Texas chapter of the organization awarded top honors to the contractors who worked on the college’s Round Rock Campus (SpawGlass and TDIndustries) and Building 3000 at Rio Grande Campus (Bartlett Cocke).
The Excellence in Construction award honors firms that exemplify the highest quality of workmanship and uphold a dedication to completing projects on time and on budget.
“We appreciate the work of our contractors, who have created wonderful learning and working environments for our students, faculty, and staff,” says Robert Ryland, a project manager with the Facilities and Construction Department. “We are very pleased with how Round Rock Campus and Building 3000 turned out.”
Phase I of Round Rock Campus opened this fall, and more than 5,000 students are currently enrolled at the location – which comprises more than 274,000 square feet, including four academic buildings and a central utility plant. It is ACC’s largest campus in terms of physical size.
Building 3000 at Rio Grande Campus originally served as the gymnasium of Austin High School, opening in 1929. ACC repurposed the building, creating new classrooms and faculty offices while maintaining the exterior of the gym as faithfully as possible. Building 3000 opened in July 2010.
