EMAIL DELAYS AND SPAM

ACC faculty and staff may be seeing some delays in delivery of email and a greater influx of spam messages.  Both of these are an indirect result of our conversion to a new email system.  During our transition, all email at ACC has to be directed to Google’s servers and then redirected back to ACC.  This has doubled the load on ACC’s email system and some messages have been delayed by an hour or more, and more spam is making it through.  As a short-term solution, IT has brought extra servers online to handle the added traffic.  Delivery will continue to improve throughout December and January as faculty and staff are converted over to Google Apps.  IT staff are evaluating additional ways ways to accelerate this transition and to improve service.

TOWN HALL MEETINGS AND GOOGLE APPS SUPPORT

There are still some spaces available in the Town Hall meetings for staff to learn about the conversion to Google Apps (https://www3.austincc.edu/it/workshops/www/eventenroll.php?Source=Calendar&EventID=2460).

For those unable to attend in person an online video is available (http://www.austincc.edu/ITdocs/google/Google_Apps.mov).  More training and meetings will be made available in January.

2010 TRANSPORTATION SURVEY
