ACC and National Instruments Host Technical Writing Forum March 26

ACC and National Instruments will host a forum for aspiring technical writers Saturday, March 26, at Northridge Campus (11928 Stonehollow Dr.).

Students will have an opportunity to learn about ACC’s Business and Technical Communications program and meet with recruiters from National Instruments, which has been repeatedly named one of Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For.”

“This is an excellent way for students to network and find out about the field,” says David McMurrey, department chair for Business and Technical Communications. “Technical writing is a high-demand career with a broad range of job prospects. Professionals come from a variety of majors and backgrounds.”

The U.S. Department of Labor projects employment of technical writers will grow 18 percent – faster than the average for all occupations – from 2008 to 2018.

The event runs 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (doors open 9:30 a.m.). The forum will feature a panel of experts, including National Instruments staff, McMurrey and other ACC faculty members, program alumni, and a past president of the Austin Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication.Â

Seating is limited; contact Jill Brockmann ([email protected]) for an invitation or additional information.
