May 4 Deadline to Convert to Google Apps

All faculty and staff must convert to Google Apps for Education (including the new ACC email system) by Wednesday, May 4. More than 3,200 ACC employees have already made the change.

Google Apps is a set of customizable communication and information technology tools. ACC’s Information Technology Department began transitioning employees to the new system at the beginning of the spring semester.

IT has offered workshops on each campus to explain the advantages of Google Apps and the conversion process. These workshops are available online and may be viewed for professional development credit (view workshops here). In addition, IT is conducting online and in-person Google Groups workshops. Google Calendar Basics will be available online in late April, followed by in-person workshops.Visit the ACC Workshop and Event Registration Website to enroll in IT Google training; check out the ACC Google Workshops Handouts page to access materials used in the workshops.

Converting to Google Apps is easy and takes only a few minutes (instructions for conversion). You can get help from experts on your campus; if you have an extensive collection of older messages to upload to Google, IT technicians can assist (request an appointment here). Please call the help desk (223-4357) for additional assistance.

Visit the ACC Google Apps webpage for FAQS and resources. For more information, contact Stan Gunn, associate vice president for information technology, at [email protected].
