Sen. Cornyn Addresses Higher Education Priorities at ACC Fundraiser

The Austin Community College District’s Center for Public Policy and Political Studies (CPPPS) welcomes U.S. Sen. John Cornyn as the keynote speaker at its third annual dinner and fundraiser. The event will be 6 p.m. Monday, April 25, at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center (1900 University Ave.).

Sen. Cornyn will address higher education priorities, including his commitment to improving educational opportunities for Texans and his support for the Pell Grant program, which helps low-income students afford a quality education.

“This event is a great way to be an advocate for the center and to meet the students who have benefited from the center’s many activities,” says Kerry Cammack, CPPPS board member and event co-chair, along with former Texas Gov. Mark White. “We are thrilled to have Sen. Cornyn as our keynote, as he is truly committed to public education and helping students reach their full potential.”

During the fundraiser, ACC President/CEO Dr. Stephen B. Kinslow will be presented the CPPPS “Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Award” for his 34 years of service to ACC and its students.

CPPPS, the nation’s first nonprofit public policy center at a community college, encourages students’ political and civic engagement through programs, internships, and conferences.
