The Austin Community College District ranked in the top 10 for CPA exam success rates among major Texas colleges and universities for the period of April 2010 through March 2011. ACC is the only community college to make the list.

“This is a rigorous exam and course of study, and ACC is proud to rank among the best colleges and universities in the state,” says Charles Quinn, dean of business studies.

The ranking is based on schools with at least five candidates taking the exam during each testing window of that year. ACC students passed approximately 53 percent of sections tested. Here are the rankings, according to the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy:

1.   University of Texas at Austin (75.37 percent of sections passed)

2.   Texas A&M University–College Station (70.4 percent of sections passed)

3.   Texas Christian University (68.26 percent of sections passed)

4.   Baylor University (62.74 percent of sections passed)

5.   Southern Methodist University (59.55 percent of sections passed)

6.   Abilene Christian University (57.62 percent of sections passed)

7.   Trinity University (56.02 percent of sections passed)

8.   Texas Tech University (55.72 percent of sections passed)

9.   Midwestern University (54.12 percent of sections passed)

10. Austin Community College (52.88 percent of sections passed)
