I work in Building 2, so I did not directly participate in the drill. Earlier that day, I spoke with a student who had just picked up the Emergency Information flier from the first floor table. She commented that she did not have a cell phone or easy access to email, and she wondered how she would receive information about emergencies. Do we suggest students in this situation register their home phones? Should we reassure them that building-wide announcements will be made as well? Thanks for the guidance.

The ACC Emergency Alert system uses many communication methods. See them all by going to austincc.edu/emergency and clicking on “emergency communication systems”. Emergency message boards on campus will always be activated to communicate urgent information.
