Help for Victims of Central Texas Wildfires

ACC faculty, staff, and students are among the numerous victims of the devastating wildfires that continue to burn across the area. Â Some have lost their homes to fire, while others have been displaced by evacuations.

The college and its employee associations are responding to those in need as well as working to facilitate donations and support from the many people in the ACC community who want to help.

Employees

Faculty and staff members impacted by the fires are encouraged to contact their employee associations (see list below), where they can apply for emergency funds. Employees who have been directly affected by the fires may request administrative leave from their supervisors to deal with issues related to the situation. Human Resources can provide more information or assistance.

The college has been alerted to the following special offers for fire victims:

  • A+ Federal Credit Union is offering special rates on loans. Contact 800.252.8148 or email [email protected].
  • U-Haul Company of Austin is offering 30 days of free storage and U-Box portable storage. Contact 512.331.7777 for more information.
  • The Texas Disaster Relief Fund will be distributed through Combined Community Action Inc. to provide seven-day emergency hotel vouchers for individuals and families whose homes have been destroyed in the Bastrop County fire.
  • Combined Community Action will also administer flexible assistance cards using up to cover essential expenses for these individuals and families.

Students

Affected students are asked to contact the Support Center Specialists at their campus. The Student Emergency Fund is a resource for qualifying students who encounter an unforeseen financial emergency or catastrophic event which would otherwise prevent them from continuing their education at ACC.

Donations

Those interested in helping impacted employees, their families, and our neighbors may make a donation to any of the employee associations’ emergency funds through the cashier office on any campus. Donations may be made by cash, check, or payroll withdrawal. Now, you can also donate online to employee associations. Please remember to identify the association to which you wish to contribute.
