The Austin Community College District invites you to celebrate Diez y Seis, which commemorates Mexico’s declaration of independence from Spain more than 200 years ago and honors Mexican history, heritage, and culture.
ACC’s Diez y Seis event takes place Thursday, September 15, from noon to 1 p.m. at Riverside Campus (1020 Grove Blvd.). It is free and open to the public.
The celebration will feature historians who will explain the meaning of Diez y Seis, traditional dishes, Roy Lozano’s Ballet Folklórico, and musical entertainment from Mariachi Estrella, Johnny Degollado y su Conjunto Band, and ACC’s own Boca Abajo.
The event is presented by the ACC Center for Public Policy and Political Studies, the Latino/Latin American Studies Center, the Office of Student Success, and former state Sen. Gonzalo Barrientos.

Please try to set up the stage and the mariachi band far enough away from building G so that ongoing classes are not affected.
