Tee Up for Sixth Annual Golf Scramble

Pros and duffers alike, it’s time to get swinging for ACC’s sixth annual Golf Scramble.

This year’s event will be Friday, October 7, at the Riverside Campus golf course. Check-in begins at 7 a.m. for an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

Co-sponsored by SpawGlass, ACC’s Golf Scramble benefits the Student Emergency Fund, which provides aid to qualifying  students if an unforeseen financial emergency or catastrophic event threatens their ability to remain enrolled at ACC. To date, more than $65,000 has been distributed from the fund to help students with significant, uncovered medical costs or living expenses following a natural disaster such as the recent area wildfires.

“The Student Emergency Fund really can make a difference in students’ lives,” says John Hernandez, a former ACC Trustee and current ACC Foundation board member who founded the Golf Scramble. “The wildfires, which have affected a number of ACC students and staff, demonstrate how important it is to have a resource to help those in crisis.” Last year’s event raised $24,000 for the fund.

The cost to participate is $75 per player or $300 per foursome, which covers greens fees, cart, lunch, and prizes. Sponsorship opportunities also are available. Prizes will be awarded to for first, second, and third place, as well as longest drive and closest to the pin.
