City Seeks Ideas for Improving Airport Boulevard

With its recent purchases at Highland Mall, the Austin Community College District’s presence on the Airport Boulevard corridor is increasing. Now the ACC community is invited to share thoughts on how to make Airport Boulevard part of the city’s next great urban district.

City designers will display their vision for an improved upper Airport Boulevard (the area from Lamar Boulevard to Interstate 35), at an open house on Saturday, October 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center at 1165 Angelina Street. The public is invited to drop in, meet the design team, and weigh in on planned development.

The team then will present its master plan on Monday, October 3 at a meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady’s Maronite Catholic Church at 1320 E. 51st Street. The presentation will include transportation recommendations and set forth a framework that will guide the area’s development in the coming years.
