Employee Charitable Campaign Now Underway

For years, the ACC community has generously supported its neighbors in need by contributing to charitable organizations across Texas through the annual State Employee Charitable Campaign. With recent wildfires impacting so many in the area, the need for donations is especially great.

This year’s SECC campaign kicked off Monday, October 3 and will continue until the end of the month. ACC employees may choose to contribute to charities that are directly involved with helping local fire victims, including the Capital Area Food Bank, the American Red Cross of Central Texas, Manos de Cristo, and the Austin Humane Society.  Employees may also support one of the many other organizations that serve others locally and worldwide, such as the ACC Foundation, the March of Dimes and Habitat for Humanity.

“Every year the response by our faculty and staff is overwhelming,” says Gerry Tucker, ACC Vice President of Human Resources. She adds that the college hopes to exceed last year’s contributions of almost $45,000. “Our employees always find a way to support those who need a helping hand. With the recent challenges in central Texas, we know our employees will open their hearts and make a difference again this year.”

Contributing to the campaign is easy: Employees may donate through a payroll deduction or make a one-time gift. Donation pledge forms can be obtained from designated SECC representatives at each campus. Each campus also will have special fundraising activities and events, including a “Change for Charity” competition to see which campus can collect the most money through donations of spare change.
